BAD RONBO, KiLLeR DWaRfS wrote:those coils remind me of the mustang bass pickups, only exposed. cool ! the original rick bridge would have looked better as the 3000 series basses had. i put a 4001 tailpiece assy on a gibson grabber and it looked great ! does mr. hall sneak into the factory after hours and make these one-offs ?

That bass has been around for quite a while.

I really like your 450 inspired bass Ron, but what's with the AllParts tailpiece

Looks cool!
That does look cool.

Especially with checkered binding.
This is better:

I prefer the look of the ones with the standard 650 pickguard and pickup hardware.

many thanx to you guys with the computer skills to make things look real ! my idea was just a hen scratch tracing back in the late '70's. that last rendering was very nice. can you do a 1/2" spacing "super mario" ? ( i think mr. hall is quietly watching this thread with wheels a turnin' in his noggin ! wwaaaa ? we have to churn out another bass ??? )

I've always though this would be a great bass to have, but if it were ever to be made, it would have to be more than a 4003 with different wings.
I'd like to see this built around a very thin profile neck, like the 4004LK, half inch spaced toaster, single pole bridge pickup, vintage tone circuit, and, wait for it.....
Low impedance circuit and output like the 4002.
In the eye candy dept. I would like to see full width inlays and checkerboard binding, and would it be too much to ask for an ebony fingerboard ?
Then it would deserve a new model number. I call 4006.

looks weird in the beginning but grows on you pretty fast.
This'd be killer in 650 dakota style

I don't mean to rain on a parade, but has anybody thought about unless it's a 30 inch scale and you use lightweight Schaller or Hipshot tuners, it will be neck dive hell? Seriously, on my custom fanned fret bass, a set of traditional full-sized tuners, nickel or chrome plated steel, weighs over a pound, and a set of lightweight aircraft aluminum Hipshots weighs right at 1/2 pound. That really makes a difference at the end of the neck.
They do look great, however. And remember, the original 4005 was exactly that: a stretched 360.
