I understand the requirements and hopefully it will be reduced to 50 but if not only 99 more to go. Patience is truly a virtue.

I had no intention of using this forum to purchase a Ric. In fact, I wasn't aware it was an option when I joined. I just wanted a safe place to go berserk about the new Ric I just bought, a place where I wouldn't be judged for my obsession and could also gather valuable nuggets of info from other like-minded folks.

That said, I'm very pleased to see this restriction in place, and for the many good reasons mentioned on this thread. Cheers to those who put much time and care into making this forum available for all of us Ric freaks.

Peace.
Man, I love my Ric!

Yes, perhaps a 50 post rule would be better.

The restriction has been changed to 30 posts. The reasoning behind this is that this number of posts should enable us to get to know new members while not raising the bar so high that jumping it seems a hardship. I want to thank those who have expressed their views with regard to this matter and I hope this change strikes a balance for all.

I agree. I think the idea of having people go through an introductory phase is great. 100 posts was a good starting guess, but in reality, there are some great long term members with posting numbers of less than a few hundred. Some people are just more wordy than others. 30 seems like a decent number, people can make a good introduction, we can get a decent feel for what they're all about, and they can get on with business, etc. If they stick around (which I hope they will) great! But at least it will probably weed out the people looking for a quick buck and nothing else...

So, my post count is over 30, how come I can't access the marketplace?

Gil probably has to reset some things, so it may take a few days.

Seems like a reasonable compromise and should take care of all the concerns.
