Question - my guitar fund's down to 100 EUR due to me needing a new notebook.

I'm currently browsing eBay - what brand should I look for. It should be resonable quality and handle that I kick the daylights out of it, as that's what I'm looking for right now!

I bought that Chinese Tele at an antique store downtown in my hometown. I'd recommend looking in the pawnshops about your town, Werner. That way you can inspect and play each guitar that looks a likely candidate for you. I also took my Vox amplug and a pair of earphones with me the day I bought the guitar.

As far as which guitar to buy, the biggest difference I can see that really amounts to something of significance is: Do you like humbuckers or single coils better? If you go for humbuckers, then you're looking at Gibson and their ilk. If you like single coils, then you're looking at Fender, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, and their ilk. Maybe I'm oversimplifying things a bit here. But narrowing down the choices at this stage will make the search a bit easier, I think.

Thanks for the advice, Jim. Too bad I live in the Netherlands, though - there's a city owned pawnshop, but they have no guitars whatsoever. I'm kind of stuck with eBay or dutch local equivalent marktplaats.

I'm looking at a Epiphone on eBay, but I think it'll go for way more than 100 EUR!

So, what's the opinion on Peavey Rockingham with Bigsby? They're not that expensive new...

Heck,

If you don't mind a Tele style, get a Peavey Generation!

They are available on Ebay for UNDER $200.00/. I paid $125.00 for mine, and it even has a Piezo bridge pickup as well as two humbuckers!

Darn thing ain't bad for the $$$ and I'd put it up against a MIM Fender ANY DAY!

Glad to be of help Werner....they really are great guitars for the money. I've had a few of them, there are a few different pickup configurations.
They all stayed in tune, look great and pretty much blows away anything in the $500.00 range!
