I grew up just south of San Francisco and punk was different there. The West Coast had more of what was called Hardcore with bands such as Black Flag, The Dead Kennedys, TSOL, Fear, The Germs and the Circle Jerks. The DC area had its Straight Edge with bands like Minor Threat. It is like calling a band a Rock band, or a Metal band. A Metal band is a Rock band. There are so many factions and genera's and sub-genera's. There are two kind of band - bands we like and bands we don't.

Genera= genre. Spelled like it's pronounced--in French.

I would spell it like it was pronounced in French if I wore a blue and white stripped shirt and had a beret ( raspberry if you please) and ate baguettes and brie all day. No red lines under the word so I must have spelled them right. Cut a poor Coast Guard Enlisted slob some slack.

I don't know if I have to spell correctly, but when I don't I take flak for it. LIke I said just and Coast Guard enlisted guy. Had to put myself through college. We enlisted work for a living, not like the officer corp, who take credit for what the pions below them do and then call that leadership. Sorry if there are any "O"s out there.

No "O" on these premises; I put myself through college, too, unloading trucks at UPS on the night shift, 9 p.m.-6 a.m., in the dead of Chicago winters. Why? Because they paid me $4.50 an hour back then--more than my father made. So, no slack here; sorry.
English borrows from many different languages. Better have lots of changes of clothes!

gen·er·a (jĕn'ər-ə).
1. Biology. A taxonomic category ranking below a family and above a species and generally consisting of a group of species exhibiting similar characteristics. In taxonomic nomenclature the genus name is used, either alone or followed by a Latin adjective or epithet, to form the name of a species.
2. Logic. A class of objects divided into subordinate species having certain common attributes.
3. A class, group, or kind with common attributes.
Based on number 3, I am of the opinion it is synonymous with genre

"Genera" ("of a kind") is the Latin noun root, "genre" the French derivative.
I've never heard "genera" used except in scientific contexts.

Right Now.... I am an AntiChrist.... I am an Anarchist. Not really. Joney hated that rhyme. He mentioned that in the Filth And Fury doc. To change the subject. Just got my 1957 Gibson ES-225TD back today. Neck got reset and got a re-fret job. It has P-60's on it and is Viceroy Brown, its not a Ric, but it is sweet. It even smells old. I just admitted to smelling my guitar. Time to rock.

Joel, every once in awhile, I open one of my VOX organs (both have loose tops so I can tune them readily), just to have a sniff of that '60s electronic smell. Then again, everytime I file a Rick nut to size, there's that '40s electric smell of burning Bakelite.
