Please keep them coming, as I am actively still looking. Also, what are the actual differences between the V63 and the CS? Are the pickups different???

The difference is, the CS has a vermillion fingerboard and headstock wings. The fingerboard of the V63 is bubinga and the headstock wings are walnut. The pickups are the same.

If you're going for a the CS vibe, a pre-97 V63 is actually a better place to start as that instrument is more like what Squire started with in the first place. Not to dis the 4001CS, but if you want the vibe with the least amount of money, and the most accuracy, a pre-97 V63 refinned in "SquireGlo" is the way to go.

The 4001CS has a unique neck profile as well. Very thin as you move up the neck. Also, the body is a hair thinner. Those, along with the vermillion mentioned, are the main differences between a V63 and a CS.

Of course, if you were just gonna start with a V63 anyway, you could sand the back and shave the neck also. I heard Squire didn't like the neck profile on the CS all that much after all.

The V63 I spoke of earlier in this thread, is a '91 era model. It is good to hear about how closely it resembles the 4001CS---structurally.
I LOVE the idea/suggestion of re-finning it in "Squire-Glo"....AND, the re-finned V63 pictured is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!
The trouble is, my V63 is SO beautiful in its natural MG finish, I wouldn't do ANYTHING to change it one iota.
Now.......if I could get the same SOUNDS that you get from a 4001CS..............HMMMMMMM

Brian, no malicious intent with my post, just pointing out the obvious. Actually, a V63 has the same pickups as the CS so other than the fretboard vermillion influence, would sound the same.

Being ONE of the BIGGEST Squire freaks that ever wheeled(get it???) the planet........I know TOO well how much talent and personal style influence HIS sound.
It doesn't only apply to him though!!!!!!!
BEFORE, and once I got my first 4001.....I thought---"If I could get a Rick 4001, I'd sound JUST LIKE
Chris Squire!!!!! " blah blah blah
Well, Boys and Girls...It took a WHILE, but I eventually came to see that it's MORE than the instrument!!! FAR more factors come into play when it comes to developing your own musical voice.
Jaco Pastorius is another player who comes to mind.............

I think the 4001C64 horseshoe is a revision of the 4001V63 horseshoe. Maybe the pickups on a C64 sound more like the ones Squire originally used. (That's not to take anything away from the mighty V63!)
