I can vouch for all of the stuff I've mentioned so far really being done with a Ric. I didn't list it because I saw a video--it really is what the songs were recorded with.

I kind of get irritated when a musician uses one thing for a video and records with something else, but whatever. A recent funny example of this is in the Scott Pilgrim movie, because apparently the vegan's bass recording was actually a Ric, and Scott's bass recording was actually a Mustang.

The entire "Never Mind the B*llocks. . . " album by the Sex Pistols. I don't think original and album bassist Glen Matlock played anything but a Rick 4001 back then.

Nah. No disrespect... :) I just don't understand why people do it. But then again a video is about looks, and maybe it's just that a certain bass is a better fit for the rest of the video than the recorded bass. Another phenomenon is a different bassist getting recorded in a video than the person who played on the track; I know a few people who've been on either side of this one. It was when filming happened somewhere one bassist couldn't/wouldn't travel to so the band hired someone else to look the part.

Back to the topic...

Glenn didn't play on the album tracks apart from Anarchy in the UK and No Feelings, which were taken from old sessions. Whilst there are rumours that he played as a session musician on NMTB after his departure in early '77, the most widely accepted story is that Jones played the bass parts.

Wings Over America! When Paul is playing bass, he's using the Rickenbacker. When he's playing the piano, I think Denny plays a Fender.

Here are a few where it's DEFINITELY a Ric, and it is prominent in the mix...........

"Letter From Hiro" The Vapors------AWESOME (Lefty) Rick 4001 sound

"Trees" Rush

"Star Rider" Foreigner (Foreigner's original bass player was lefty, and used a Rick)

GREAT thread!!!!!!!!

strater had a '68 or '69 fireglo. great crunchy rick sound.
Besides one heck of a bass part creator.

Don't forget NEKTAR!

Almost 100% 4001 RIC on those earlier tunes...

Seen here on one of their mellower tunes....
Ric comes at about 2:30....too bad it's a Jetglo!

Remember the Future : CLASSIC RIC tone from the very beginning. Recycled

I suppose if you want to compile a comprehensive and non-bias list, you'd wish to include this stellar classic...

Pink Floyd - Interstellar Overdrive

Syd, are you out there?
