One thing I find interesting is that the inlays are cut in a style simlar to what was being done in early 1958.

Well, it could be that both p/ups are even in output and controlled by one knob while the other pot is a tone control, or the tone is fixed and one pot is for each p/up....I'd love to play it to find out...
