Have you SEEN my 4003S?

It's a total Frankenstein. It's the 8 string I'd like to avoid drilling into. Good point about the vintage surround sans shoes. I'm probably gonna give it a go anyway.
From the pics I've seen I'd hardly call it a Frankenstein. It looks like a 4003S with a chrome pick guard, a toaster, and some genuine mojo to me!

That's different though, Dane. You have the chrome pickup cover over your pickup. Tom's 4003S doesn't.
What I'm sayin' is...If you prefer your bridge pickup to be uncovered, the resulting gaping hole left by the removal of the pickup cover (or the horseshoes) is much more...pronounced...IMO with the big horseshoe surround than it is with the smaller hi-gain surround.

I went into shop that ordered my Horseshoe today to buy a pack of strings and my tech said, "Oh Jay, how's it going, man. Your pickup's right here. I forgot to call you."
Anyway, I'm taking the 4003MG in tomorrow to have them swap pickups. Plus, I'm finally getting my "saddle wobble" corrected by having Richard at RIC send some new saddles to the shop. Finally, my bass will be in tip-top shape and exactly as I want it: vintage TRC, Delrin nut, strap buttons, volume/tone knobs, Toaster and Horseshoe. With the new 9050CL flats and more precisely machined saddles, I'm going to be a happy man!
Oh, and am I correct in assuming that the Horseshoe will fit in the surround that's already on my bass? I thought I read that somewhere. Thanks!
