I use it some times on my v63, it's been especially useful while recording.

You mean the palm of my right hand? Occasionally.

Oh, I also use the mute bolts for a rest, too. So I guess I do use it.

I wonder if the foam would make a good fishing bob...

I use my palm to mute nearly all the time with ALL my basses and tear at the strings a bit. This adds punch and compression, and eliminates some of the unwanted overtones especially with round wound strings. This allows you to control the sustain and to let strings ring out when desired. By using the palm mute I also have moved more and more towards round wound strings. This palm muting happened instinctively over the years. I tried the RIC mute in the past but could not get even contact pressure across all 4 strings.

Never use it, I use the palm mute method..

Never use the mute....or the tone, volume or pickup selector switch. Everything is on 11 all the time.

Switching between muting the tone or not (i like some notes to ring) but it's impossible under one song so i just figured it's a lot easier to use palm mute instead.

So.. i don't use it and probably never will.
