If I wanted a reissue, I guess I'd pay whatever they were asking for it.

Other than that, maybe just options like checkerboard binding and horseshoe/toasters for the currently made better than ever 4003
So can you reissue a reissue?

I'm sure some would have issue with it, but as long as it was wrapped in tissue, it could be done

Maybe I read it while i was day dreaming..
I bumped into a thread on this subject just the other day. To find that thread, search "people will flip out" on the corporate forum. That should take you to topic: 4001C64, dated February 23, 2009.

If it were around maybe $3,500-4,000? I most likely would buy one....

Well, one time he did say, not as long as he's running the company. Of course, some day he'll probably retire and then, who knows...

It means not likely at that price. When the desirability pushes the price to a level where it would make economic sense to the company, then we might consider it. Most likely anyway.

Would that be an 'economic recovery of the 4005..?'

The only one I would ever even remotely consider is a 4005 and a fair price for a good new hollow body bass (or semi-hollow) would probably be in the 5000.00-6000.00 range. I like hollow body basses but I would think that they are harder to maintain over time (body integrity etc.) which would push me toward a new one over a vintage one if the price were the same.
I would also go for a reissue 68 4001 and a good reissue of those would not be cheap either.

You have never been a fan of the reissues or specials. I learned that the hard way.

John,
I'd pay whatever you wanted for the 4002 qand 4005. Please keep that in mind.
