A bit late to answer, but I have some ideas...

- A Pete Quaife 4001S would be cool.
- I would love to see a more simple Lemmy sig. A second one, Mapleglo with star inlay... maybe maple board?

I do think a sig has to have something special.

Roger Glover's Rick 4001. With FW inlays and CB binding, 2 jazz-pickups (reverse poled, wired as a humbucker), and a Gibson minibucker underneath the bridgecover.

thats a great blow up. I always wondered how he got his tone on Smoke on the water until I saw the You Tube of the 73(?) performance and saw a sweep of the bass...I was like Whoa.....

thanks for posting that

And a Tom Petty Limited Edition bass would be nice. He plays bass, you know. It's usually a Fender, but if Rickenbacker gave him a bass, maybe...

The only pics of Petty with a bass I saw were a Höfner (in a cd booklet) and a copperburst Danelectro Longhorn (Travelling Wilbury vids)

The Mustang was used on the Fireball LP. Smoke on the Water (and the rest of Machine Head) was recorded with the Ric before it was modded. Pictures of Home is the neck toaster soloed, not two J pickups.

Then you should know that Tom has had a Jetglo 4001 (a '72?) from when he started his career, before he formed Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Ron Blair and Howie Epstein have also used it along with their own bass guitars.
Tom is playing it here:

Ron Blair is using for this video:
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)
