Whats the deal here? Maybe everybody is planning to be a last minute sniper. I think its nice, so RIC, don't get discouraged with the lack of bids. You guys are awesome for putting out these one offs!

Well, of the 7 one-off basses that have sold so far, I have the prices for 5 of them. The lowest is $2551, the highest is $4552 with an average price of $3607. Now, only 2 of them topped $4000, (well the tobacco burst sold for $4000), and those were pretty exceptional looking basses. If you pull those out of the average, you get $3162, which is only $233 over the opening bid on this one.

So, my thought on this auction is that, since it started with a fairly high opening bid and no reserve instead of a low opening bid with reserve like the previous basses, there won't be much action until the very end. That, coupled with bad economy and the seeming unpopularity of the 4004, I'm not expecting this one to go for a whole lot more than $3k. But, you never know...

If I bought it, I'd throw toasters in there.

Ooh, sacrilege! It should be kept as it is!

I was also wondering if a final bid will be made or not. It's currently like 200 USD over a regular 4004Cii?

Just replace the volume and tone controls with push-pulls and wire as coil taps for the HB1's. You'll have 7.5K single coils at the pull of a knob. The best of both worlds.

Then put toaster covers on it! I love the look of toasters as well.

They won't fit over HB1's without bending the corners because the there's no recess molded into the tops for the covers to sit properly into. I know someone who did this with one of the basses I customized and it looks like hell.
