What we seem to be missing are young, "modern" bands. I already have some ideas of my own but again, how about some suggestions?
If you want "quintessential Rick" and "modern," you can't get better than The Primrose League . I hope the fact that it's just one guy recording stuff on his mac - for free download - does not detract folks from recognizing his genius.

One of the problems here - it's very difficult to know what guitar someone used in the studio. Not as much of a problem for a 12-string, but finding modern recordings that are definitively Rick-6 is very challenging.

Scotty - there is one on a stand behind him in the "In The City" video. Looks like a sunburst w/ black pickguard.

Both Telecasters I believe (Radio Free Europe is a Tele for sure). Not 100% sure on the basses but they're probably Ricks?
Can't comment as well on The Jam, but I always picture them with the Ruby 4003 and Ruby 330 in their matching suits. May be guilty of operating on an assumption on this one. However, I believe RFE has at least one Rick track (among the 20 guitar overdubs) - Buck has said he's used it on every REM record.

Help the album has Rickenbackers on it. Help the song has Lennon on the J-160e and Harrison on his Gretsch Tennessean.
Modern bands? Snow Patrol and Muse come to mind, not sure what songs Chris Wolstenholme may have recorded with a Rick bass, though. On several Snow Patrol videos a 4003 is used, but again, not certain it was used for recording.

Yeah, Muse is a favorite of mine too.
Here's a link to the live version of Knights of Cydonia and we've got some great Rick Bass going on. I just wish they would show more of it in the video!
Whatever the original recording was. . . REM has released live versions that
a) sound better, and
b) probably had the 360. The Murmur deluxe live version of RFE is phenomenal. I wonder if it could be considered for this radio show. . .

Anyone mentioned Primal Scream? (The guy plays a 3000 bass very consistently.)
I already put my two bits in about Tool over on the RIC forum.

Yeah, plus they actually had two studio versions of it early on. There is the Murmur one, and then the earlier Hib-tone one or whatever that later reappeared on Eponymous. I don't know if he even had the Rick at the time of the earlier one, but I'm pretty sure he did by the time they recorded Murmur.

OK, they've already nailed down the playlist. Apparently they have to pre-load everything into the computer pretty far in advance so that the DJ can basically point and click his way through the show. Sure has changed since I did some radio engineering in the 60's!
I know what the selections are but I'll let you be surprised. There WILL be Hautewerk content. Also, your on-air requests and messages via the station's online request line at http://www.kx935.com/request will be considered or so they say. (Keep requesting Hautewerk anytime you feel like it!)

The set would not be complete without a song by Hautewerk!

I can't say for sure but it sure sounds like a 4003 that Chris Wolstenholme is using on the song, "Liquid State" or "Big Freeze" on the latest Muse album, The 2nd Law.

+1 seen him do that live with Peter Buck, featuring one 370/12 JG and a 370RM/12 MG - it's hard to beat so much jangle (I won't mention the Ric bass they used as that would make it over the top, you know )
