Transgreen, AFG, either would be quite interesting. Perhaps even a Greenburst...

Fretboard has been sized and prepped for frets and binding route cut.. Not real riveting stuff but it's a very important feature that makes a 4002 a 4002. While said I'd post fotos once the board was on the bass, these were just too nice to sit on my computer hard drive without sharing!
All in all the restoration is coming along quite well and pretty fast!
Fretboard in the jig and having it's fret slots cut.
Slots cut and markers added. Board was wiped with naptha to simulate it's color after final sanding and polishing
Upper register.

You could have used rivets for the dot inlays!
Nice piece of ebony. as CJ mentioned, nicer and more interesting than the usual plain stuff.

Thanks guys! I'm thinking that the inky pure black ebony we see on newer production instruments is actually stained black. From what I'm told, the deep black stuff is extremely scarce and expensive. From what I understand this piece is very dark for what is commercially available.
In any case, it is way darker and has more character than the piece that was originally on the bass. That original piece had a huge light streak running halfway up the board. I too can't wait to see the board attached to the bass!

Doesn't look like a board to me, not flat enough...

That slab looks fab,the one on my 4002 was pretty uniform looking, not a lot of grain, IIRC.

Since the 4002 was RIC's only 21 fret full scale bass ever, I'd have put in the dot at the 21st fret.
