Most likely as the phone thinks the subject matter is too bright and using a higher shutter speed/smaller f-stop/shorter flash duration. Typical, like a snow or beach scene when you have no control over the automatic exposure system.

I know how dorky this sounds, but I get excited every time I see the top routing on this bass.

When a Strat body is routed with a large pickup cavity to allow for various pickups configurations that is commonly referred to as a swimming pool route.

In this case, I assume it is for the distortion electronics and/or battery.

Ah, I imagine you are right then. I'd already forgotten about the distortion unit. I am just excited to see a Ric bass without a big neck pickup route, to be honest. I think you are right to call this a swimming pool though since it is definitely different than how a 4002 looks, I think they have two smaller routs for each pickup normally.

Maybe this could inspire a new model?

I'd be more excited to see those pickups mounted in the same locations, but mounted like 4004's. (No swimming pools or plastic pool covers). Might as well throw on a Schaller bridge while yer at it.
