Oh he hasn't left at all. As someone stated, "he took his ball and went home." If you speak out of turn here, you will get a personal e-mail surprise from the man himself. No, Big Brother is always watching.

Ted, this may seem like an inane question, but would it be possible to add checkered binding without doing a complete body refin? Could it be shaped and just clear over the whole thing in the case of solid colors? It would be my desire to add checkered binding to a late model 4003 like the Japanese get.

This bass could potentially float under the radar screen. There may not be many people outside of this group that would know what this could be and be scared off by the high bid!

If anyone is interested in an actual Shadow, let me know. I know of a good one for sale.

Cheers!

Speaking of the checkered binding on this bass---how is it reversed??

I mean on my 4001 FG the Checker biding is white with black "checks". I thought that was the ONLY kind of Ric checker there was.

On this bass the binding is black, with white checks... See what I mean? Did they VERY carefully mask the white binding and paint it black? If they did it was an excellent job.

I think the other black basses I've seen have the white binding whether checker or plain.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It's actually two strips of binding - first the checkerboard and then plain white. On the Shadow and the 4002, the outer binding strip was plain black instead of white.
