Hey, I'm (GASP!) 55 going on 17, I think, and just bought my first Ric (a 360/6 MG) in December. I've wanted a Ric since those early Byrds-Beatles days, but never could find one when I was in the buying mood. It took a few decades past puberty to do what I coulda, shoulda done 20 or 30 years ago. How happy am I with the Ric? Sold off two prized Fenders. Don't need 'em, don't want 'em -- this is all the guitar I need and want. But to get back to the question (wait a minute ... senior moment here ... what was the question? Oh, yeah ... ), there's an eternally young rocker inside every Ric-pickin' dinosaur!

Bluespckr, were we separated at birth? Well, I am a year older and have exactly the same frame of mind and early influences. For me, it was the first time I heard the Hollies' "Look Through Any Window". Prized Fenders, huh? Fenders are good guitars, but Ricks have That Indefinable Something, right out of the case.

You just "KNOW" as soon as you grab that first chord, and hear it ring, that THIS is THE GUITAR for you, PERIOD. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind. And dumb me -- I never thought about the Hollies, but it was that sound way back when, for me, too! Thanks for helping an old tooter remember!!!!

Amen to you, Paul, and Howard--here in Amerika they're called "walkers" and mine is being prepared as I write this, but in Blueburst...

Paul, I have two Fenders in my collection. All--I repeat ALL--of my Fenders (including the old '53 Tele) were disposable EXCEPT my '59 Duo-Sonic...It's a remarkable, no, FANTASTIC guitar and I will never part with it and however many Ricks I get before my wife clubs me into oblivion with one!

I have three guitars which STAY: my two Ricks and the Duo Sonic.

I like the idea of a verythin.
I went to play one and it musta been a lemon. Insanely noisy and buzzy.

I'm 35, and I got my first Ric (a 330) almost 4 years ago as an anniversary present from my husband, who just knew I would fall in love with it--I never would have dreamed it, but he was right! Way back in his college days he used to have a '72 4001, which he picked up after seeing Geddy Lee play. He loved the quality and tone of that bass so much, and he knew I would feel the same way about the Ric guitar. He's bought me quite a few more since that fateful and life-changing day, LOL!

I'm 49, 50 in February, I got my first Fireglo 4001 in 1973 for my 18th Birthday, been a Ric addict ever since.

Just turned 54, myself. Got my first Ric(used) in 1973. A Fireglo 365. Got my most recent in 2004. A Fireglo 360-12. I've made a few changes to it. Toaster-top pickups, 12 string bridge, gold guards and nameplate, black vintage knobs, trapeze tailpiece, and the famous "Arnquist" string spacing mod.
You're never too old to play a Ric!!
