That's essentially what I did with my '74 4001 (pup wise). If yours doesn't have it (I can' t remember when they were issued) you might consider a push pull pot for the cap bypass... can be quite dynamic. That is a sweet looking bass!Tbass wrote:Oh man! Thank you woodyng. It really worked out well and is a very "different" tone!woodyng wrote:Welcome,Tim, excellent choice(s) on the bass mods!
Right. It does have the push pull pot- I was amazed at the additional tonal ranges, and quite readily use them when I play.ram wrote:That's essentially what I did with my '74 4001 (pup wise). Thanks Ken! I look forward to knowing you guys! Already from the welcomes alone, I think I can get used to the hospitality!ken_j wrote:Welcome Tim.
You have her fitted out like my '04, your bass' doppelganger, mine being MG. What strings do you use. This one has NOS RIC/Maxima flats on it.Tbass wrote:

Thanks- I was actually inspired to go to a local guitar shop that has 2 4003s on the wall (unmodified)---and wow. I really think that although they sounded great, I really like my tone more.jps wrote:Nice mods, Tim!
Awesome MG, John!!! I use ghs boomers 45-100 rounds on my bass. I have yet to try flats.johnallg wrote:Tbass wrote:
