Tony, I have my gear insured with them. When I had the 4002, I had it insured for 5 grand.

I think that those of us who love Rickenbackers have come to learn that they are a special instrument. As such we may have the tendency to set the bar higher than is reasonable at times. That, after all, comes with the passion we have for these fine guitars.


The Anniversary Models are going to be highly sought after and I expect that the serial number, the unique finish and TRC will probably be all the documentation that the owners need.

To say you have one of 75 is a special thing. RIC has outdone themselves once again. Thanks for squeezing in this special edition John.

I'll second Peter's vote. I am looking forward to my 75A330 when it comes.

With all due respect why such a harsh comment?
I can understand your frustration with not being able to satisfy everyone.
I can also understand some disappointment with the 75th limited additions.

As a loyal RIC fan, I for one was somewhat disappointed in finding out that the 75th 4003 will not ship with some of the vintage goodies, let alone a vintage case or COA.
I'm sure you would agree that the 75th 4003 is nothing more that a regular 4003 with a special TRC, pickguard, and limited finish.
Don't get me wrong, I applaud your efforts for even providing this to us, and your participation in this forum is invaluable.
I must say however that I don't think anyone's comments where out of line about the COA.
I also feel that making a comment about selling all the limited additions outside of the USA is troubling to an American fan, and an American company.

I cannot possibly see how a certificate of authenticity would be helpful for insurance purposes for this guitar. Certainly worth less than the receipt, as far as documentation goes.

It will be fun to see how these do on the aftermarket. I predict very well!

I guess I'm just not wording myself correctly...Let me try another route...

All I'm trying to say is that because the certificate states that it is a LIMITED EDITION, and that it is NUMBERED, one of a finite production. The receipt is FINE to cover you for the PURCHASE PRICE.

What would a LEMMY owner do if (for example) his bass was stolen? Take a check for $1800.00 from the insurance company for a bass that is now selling for 10-15K and say "thank you very much"? I sure wouldn't.

I'm trying to say is that MY agent said it was PROOF POSITIVE that my CS wasn't not a run of the mill production bass. I have it insured for a LOT more than its purchase price. The company stated that I have PROOF it isn't a STANDARD production model because the certificate STATES it was a limited edition and current, recent sales from a number of sources to back that up.

I couldn't understand it either. I went back and re-read what I had posted. I didn't think what I had posted was unreasonable. But, I've been wrong before, I'm sure I'll be wrong many times more.

I did say " I just ASSumed that it wouldn't be a HUGE undertaking to print them up. If I'm wrong, I apologize".

I don't mean to cause any grief, I really don't. I really enjoy this place and I also enjoy everyone here. I try to keep things on an even keel and keep it all in prospective. But, if we can't speak openly and respectfully to each other, something is wrong.

I enjoy my exchanges with the RIC folk. I try to keep it light, and I try to keep it positive, and I try to keep respectful.

I hope to be able to continue to do so for a very long time to come.

My point is that our overseas customers simply buy or don't buy the product; they don't hang out in chat groups and moan about it.

For goodness sake, if you don't like, DON'T BUY IT!

I'm sorry if it sounds harsh, but the bottom line is that I simply didn't have to offer anything at all and it wouldn't have made the slightest difference to our business. I won't make the mistake again.

I'm with you Andy, I'm so happy to be getting a 75th 4003 also!

Tony, the simple way to deal with this is to get an appraisal from a reputable Ric dealer. That's what I did and my appraisal for my LK was $10K. Now I simply have my Rics insured through my homeowner's policy on a special rider. For about $15K in Rics my insurance is quite cheap and now I have one less thing to worry about. The COA is just about worthless as far as value to the insurance company.....get an appraisal.

Just who do you think he concocted this whole 75th production run for? It certainly wasn't for the brain dead ebay bidders that are paying above street price for used 04 and 05 instruments. Ric decided to make these just for us rabid fans, nobody else even knew they were coming!

Yet here we are, after the fact, crying about what the instruments don't include and what they didn't turn out to be.

If I were John Hall, I'd be a bit ****** off at some of you ungratefull folk as well.

I happen to not be a fan of the "75th" models....so I didn't buy one. I am certainly grateful that Ric put forth the effort though (it just doesn't happen to appeal to me......no biggie).

I do find it odd that some are buying the guitar/basses AND complaining about what is included. It was never said that there would be a COA or a special case (or a book, strap or lightsaber). They are simply a standard 4003 with a commemorative paint job and pickguard and they were likely kept simple for a reason so I see no reason to expect any extras.
