I've never had a problem with the UPS guy. I have everything delivered to my office. So someone is always available. Besides, I sponsor the guy's softball team every year at a tune of $500.00. He treats me pretty good.

Congrats Tony, it looks amazing.
Does it have the new neck profile?

Thanks Ilan,
Unfortunately, no it doesn't. From what I was able to tell, they are in the large minority. Ken S. apparently had one on Ebay that LOOKED like it had the different headstock and I think there were only 1 or 2 others here.
I DEFINITELY have the "bulbous" headstock and fatter neck.

Here is a link to Ken's last auction:

I've been watching the photos of these as they come in. While the DCM's are all really cool basses, I haven't seen ANY with the longer headstock. Compare where the TRC ends in relation to the end of the headstock. Its been the same on all of them.
I don't know what's going on over at RIC with the two different neck cutting machines and two different headstocks, but I've only seen a few 4003's with the long headstock and its been months since I've seen a new one. Maybe they're using up all the stock of bulbous headstock necks before they resume building them with the longer headstock necks.

Thanks Jeff & Dave!
I thought for SURE Ken's had the thin neck. Oh well, wrong again! Hey, at least I'm consistient!
The neck feels a bit chunkier than my 2006 Monty, but NOT as thick as my 2005.
Playable for sure, but not as comfortable as I hoped for. I'm seriously considering a "liposuction" treatment on my Monty.
I really have to sit back and evaluate which ones I can play, which ones I WANT to keep but need to have a little neck whittling done, and which ones are just going to have to go.

Thank you too Jdog!
She'll be here, waiting for your next visit!
It's amazing how much lighter in color she is compared to your 360! Both are cool!

Marc Seligman and I compared our two 4003DCMs very closely side-by-side at MARF II, and they both had the same headstock and same neck.
I agree Tony, I have not seen a single one that is measurably different from any other. All have the same headstock and neck, at least that I have seen, heard of, or been told specifically about by folks "in the know" where they make them.
We should start doing a "Measure Your 4003 DCM Girth" thread about the 4003DCM specifically, kinda like the one that ran about 4001s in general a few months back. If we all post key measurements, that will settle it!

Hi Tony... Not a Ric, but my wife got me a sharp blue F****r Jazz bass that I've had my eye on. She thinks three Ric basses is enough! (she's wrong, I want two more, a FG V63 and an AG 4001/3, in due time).
So, how is that DCM? The pic looks sharp. Hope it's a player!
