Nice! I see you're still using a VT Bass in your rig. I used to use one regularly until I got the Tone Hammer 500 which sounds great all by its lonesome. Maybe it was that the MarkBass amps I had/have ( LM II, F1, and Minimark) were/are too clean sounding.

That's such a lovely looking bass Woody, and it's nice to see both you (I think) and Jeff using Mark Bass gear! I traded in my old Trace Elliot gear for Mark Bass around three years ago and never looked back.

Yep,i like the combination of the clean Markbass headroom (using an 800 tube amp in my combo now),seasoned with a soupcon of VT pedal grit, very much.
I even bought a VT 500 amp,but am finding i prefer this combination so far.

Thanks,Ash! The Laredo is hands down my favorite bass, ever, although it is also one of the heavier girthier Ricks i've played. I played it for the entire 1st set, then switched to the Cheyenne, which feels like 2 pounds lighter. (Probably an exaggeration).
I'm very happy with Markbass gear,(amps and speakers),but like Jeff, find them a little too clean by themselves for the Ricks.(except for the fretless, where that actually seems to help).

If you think your Laredo is heavy, you have no idea how welcoming it is for me to strap on one (any!) of my Ricks compared to my custom six string basses! I love the extended range but the weight is a killer!

I recorded a bass part for a song that a friend wrote for a CD he is working on of new material. I picked up my 4004L SPC and commented on how light it was. He has a Photo Flame Jazz Bass and an Asian import Spector for comparison.
