Hehehe, "2112" was my first Rush song as well, and it was also the beginning of my pure adoration for all of Geddy's bass playing. After I got "2112" down by memory, I went on to learn pretty much every song in Rush's catalogue, with the exception of stuff from Vapor Trails, which people can't seem to be able to tab. It's so good though. Those parts are so fun to play, even when you mess up. Especially stuff like "Xanadu" and "YYZ". Usually "Xanadu" is what I play to warm up.

So true. I get kind of bored with it. Having played nothing but Rush for over a year it got boring. I know alomost all of the catalogue also:

7 songs from Rush
All of Fly by night
all of caress of steel
all of 2112
all of a farewell to kings
all of hemispheres
all of permanent waves
all of moving pictures
6 songs from signals
6 songs from P/G (I know afterimage on keys)
7 songs from power windows
all of hold your fire
5 songs from presto (the pass is the best!!)
all of roll the bones
9 from counterparts
2 from T4E
4 from vapor trails (ceiling unlimited is a sick bassline)
2 from feedback

P.S. all learned by ear!

Waiting on their next album!!

Anyone have the tab for "La Villa Strangiato"? need to get that 4 second solo down. the rest is easy... just need the bass solo. I botch it everytime.. kind of sad. I did do it once, and my dad praised me for it, but it ended up being all wrong anyway.

Ha, we oughta have a 'Rush' confluence one day, I'd come to that...it'd be a blast. Guitarists and drummers too. Neat!

Presto is one of their top three albums for me. It's a winter album for me... recorded in the winter... I played it all last winter... now I moved down under and it's winter again...

P.S. The Pass is my favorite song!

Thanks for mentioning Presto... Now I'm listening to it at school! Ahhhhhh!!
"Respond, vibrate, feedback and resonate!!

I love Ged's delivery on "The Pass".
"turn around and walk the razor's edge.
Turn around and WALK the razor's edge!
Turn around and walk the raazor's edge."
I model my singing after his. The harsh delivery one one word is awesome!

People always talk about how boring or how "pop"-ish Presto is, and I just shake my head at them. I agree, Presto has some of the best stuff Rush ever recorded, including but not limited to "The Pass", "Superconductor", "Chain Lightning", and "Show, Don't Tell". "The Pass" is in my top ten favorites of all their songs.

As for "La Villa Strangiato" bass tabs, just go to www.powertabs.net, and, if you have the PowerTab Editor (which I strongly recommend if you read tab), they have a PERFECT tab of it. If not, um, I guess I could try to write it out note by note here, but it would be a bit confusing as there is no staff. That solo is murder though when you're learning it.

If you could run to it, buy a Tascam CD-BT 1. This is a device that you put a CD in and you can play along with through headphones or an amp. It will slow the track down in varying degrees and keep at pitch. Brilliant for learning songs with. They are a bit pricey but a worthwhile investment.

Presto's a great album. One of my favorites.

The production sounds a little thin (though I've noticed this with a LOT of albums Rupert Hine has (co)produced... old albums by Saga, The Fixx, etc.), but that kind of adds to the "wintery" feel of it. Listening to that album always takes me back to the fall/winter of 1989 when it was released.
