BTW, that "Jangle Burst" idea sounds really cool the more I think about it--I'm trying to imagine a transparent turquoise burst.

Well, this is a very rough concept only. I could only find a very small, low res image to work with, very little time, and a 350V63 to boot. I like it though.

Dean, not bad.... Not bad at all! It kind of reminds me of the Sea Green Rics--I always thought that was a cool color, too.

Nice color, Dean! I think it looks pretty nice with white guards and the later knobs.

I'm hooked and committed to the oven knobs and gold guards, though. The B5 is also on its way, along with a set of new Klusons to replace the Schallers.

So, MG with gold guards, JG with gold guards or Turquoise with gold guards? But then there's that nice antiqued AG that I just mixed, with gold guards, too...

Anyway the wind blows...

Today the 320 got stripped of hardware and then it got a face peel. Notice the signed control cavity--revealed for the first time since 1981.

One minor disappointment is that the Kluson bushings may not fit the Schaller holes, but I can always plug and redrill. You might notice that the Schaller holes are really crude. Yikes!

The conversion varnish peels off like sunburnt skin, in many largish sheets, leaving beautiful smooth maple underneath.

Next: knock off the nut (took longer to write than to do), remove the frets, surface the fretboard, sand the body. Remove the truss rods and check condition of same. Then we decide on color. It's a tuffy.

Talking of sea green Melissa, I saw a sea green 360-12 a couple of days ago....what a real stunner!

Paul I vote JG with Gold Guard and TRC. With the oven knobs etc. No matter what finish you choose it will be a beauty when you are done. Hopefully you do go with JG. I can't wait to see that deep black finish that I love so much on those guitars. Every time I see one I fall in love all over again.

Thanks for the comments folks. It is a pretty crude rendering though, and would probably look much nicer with the actual turquoise tint on Melissa's Ric (which is gorgeous BTW!).

Sorry I couldn't repro the gold guards and TRC Paul, I think they would be great with the turquoise! My 660/12 FG has the gold trim and it is killer.

My vote is for a Trans Blue or a Trans Turquoise with the gold trim. Let's see your considerable art talents tested, Paul. Try for a unique burst!

Thanks for the kind and challenging words.

I put gold guards on everything, either in real life, or in my fantasies. My own 660-12 and my 381 both have 'em. I think the white guards look good on some colors, but gold looks good on almost everything. If I did do this guitar in BlueBurst, though (it's off the radar now), it would have silver guards and TRC.

Brian and David: I've done a lot of JG (or black) guitars in the last few years, and I do agree that with gold guards, it would look killer, but I think I'd like to try something a bit different for a change.

Has anybody ever seen a Tangerine Burst? (No, Aitch, not a burst tangerine!) Hmmm...would look nice with gold guards, dontcha think so?

Tangerine sounds interesting...... need to see the actual colo(ur) side by side with the gold. FWIW, my vote is still for 1) turquoise/gold and 2) AG/gold.

Ken, I'll measure the hacked-out holes. I believe the bushing flanges will cover the roughness. In an extreme case, I'll have to plug and re-drill.

Pics all along. Color chips are tough on-screen, because monitor color temps vary all over the place. But I'll post chips on al the colors except black.
