It's a shame people don't have the balls to build their own instruments anymore.

I do!

Hey and someone always has something to say about a bass they haven't seen before that looks different. Someone here said mine was strange looking... and it's not as radical as yours!

David ... and you really build them ... you start from a block of wood ... me I start with parts and build one or take an existing bass and modify it ...

Jeff, that's how I got started. I was doing repair for a while too. Then I worked for this place American Showster guitars that made this Chevy Tailfin guitar... but we just made the bodies, the necks were bolt on.

After years of modding basses I had this Ibanez 5 string that I liked, except the neck was unstable, so I thought to my self "maybe I'll make a new neck..." Then as long as I was going to do that I'll make the rest of the bass too!

My first neck was for this bass. This was actually a Fender P-Bass at one time. You can see it in the lower body curve...

Personally, I never touch the bridge as I know that if I do the bass will never ever sound the same again to me. And I'll lose the bits. Now if my techie does it without me knowing, that's different. Anyway, if there is a new one, and it's better and a retrofit, fantastic.
