I would think most dealers are a little more organized, but Step 5.2 seems like good insurance, at least making yourself & your order known to all of the people at the store is a good way to keep everyone in the loop.
Glad all is now well.
I would also think that particular dealer should be offering you a healthy discount on anything else you might buy to try & win back some trust.
