Ummmm....terminal thread drift? LOL!

Seegars...I've been fortunate to be able to smoke them right here in the living room, with a window open. My all-time faves are Monte Cristo Cuban petite coronas. These I used to bring back from Brasil at $4.00 each. Now they're over $12.00. So, I smoke the Dominican versions when I can get 'em.

Recently I discovered a line of locally-hand-rolled Torpedos--no labels--that retail at one cigar store near my office at $4.00, and are rolled of Dominican leaf. Except for a rough wrapper, they are quite good. If they had a nice Connecticut wrapper, they would be superb, but probably cost $10.00, so I consider myself lucky.

I've cut way back, and now only smoke a couple a week.

Definitely Melissa! That happens to me more than I care to mention.

Paul, I told my hubby about this thread, and he's out on the deck having a cigar right now--I guess spring has finally hit Minnesota, LOL!

Hmmm... i actually have no problem with the smell of cigars smoke - i like it, but the taste... too sweet, IMHO...

I come from a family of cigar smokers. My grandfathers, my uncles, father.

Every family gathering the smell would be in the air, so it has many pleasant associations for me!

About 15 years ago, I bought my Dad a box of "Flor de Canario" Robustos for his birthday. He sent them back. Seems he'd quit smoking!

I'm going on my 37th year--smoked my first stogie the day my son was born. It remains a simple and not too expensive pleasure.

Melissa, I'm glad to hear that spring actually comes to Minnesota!

Paul, my grandfather smoked cigars everyday and had a shot of Irish whiskey before bed since he was 14. At age 86 the doctor told him to stop both and he died a week later. I never understood why the doctor would care at that stage of the game.

BTW, since this thread is about the 350V63 I should let you know that Kenny says it should be ready this week.

My Dad shoulders on at 80, but he's such a simple soul, that without his accordion (Mom's ears) and his cigars, life must be pretty dull these last ten years or so...

If he can play an instrument at 80, then he should PLAY it!

I was just telling my husband today that if there were no music in my life it would be dreadfully dull.... If I couldn't sing or play an instrument I wouldn't know how to be happy.... Well, there are other things that do bring me joy, but music is my favorite creative outlet....

Ah, that explains it (partly)! I come from the family of cigarette smokers (well... except for my two grandmothers, all the "older" members of my family smoked, some still do...) But i always liked men with pipes, that sight... it looks so... mmm... serious, you know, masculine, so to speak.
BTW, my Dad's 58. And he still considers himself to be a young boy... sometimes it seems to me he really is
The ability to play an instrument - yes, that's a great thing (no matter how good one is at it, albeit if one isn't that good, it may cause troubles to those who are around). A sort of therapy or something.

If I make 80 I'll be rapt! Cigarettes, cigars, booze and Ricks notwithstanding.....

If I can still play something it will be a bonus........

I've just swapped it for a 1997 (in FG)....
