>>People in that industry either try and keep their place at the top, or resign themselves to being a nostalgia act. Apparently neither of them have realized that yet<< I think Paul might end up going the way of Sinatra, as in there is a time to leave the stage gracefully, and once that time is gone, well...you end up talking through "duets" with your kids and forgetting words on stage. Rock is a young man's business. Maybe if the young men today were any better at it, Paul wouldn't have so many gigs. I thought his vocals were atrocious at the Cavern show, and it sounded very much age related. Didn't notice that on the Superbowl. But I don't think anyone really sings on the Superbowl without tracks to cover for possible tech glitches, and I suspect that's doubly true on the awards shows.

I suspect that Macca will provide his material to a stable of artists once he hangs up the Hofner. I also suspect that Ringo will be able to play well into old age. At least until such time as he can no longer lift his sticks.
I don't believe that either of them will let themselves be degraded to a novelty act or a nostalgia act. That would not sit well with either of them.

Paul wrote"Mariah Carey sings like a dysfunctional canary with cupcake boobies and ADD."
Cupcake boobies? They looked more like Pound Cakes to me.....
of course, I was watching it on a 50" Hi-Def set....

Cupcakes? Poundcakes? Watch out... the local self-appointed PC police might accuse you of "objectifying women"

They'd be correct. It's a guy thing.
It's the counterpoint to being "packaged" whenever we're oot and aboot.

Wowee...take the day off to shovel a few sidewalks and just look what happens!
Kent...for the record, anybody wants to slam a particular individual woman for being a bad scene, it's more than fine with me. I just don't like it when the tone gets sophomoric and tends toward comments about 'them' as a group...why the hell am I even trying to explain this.
Stuart...take it easy, man...you'd think I was circulating cartoons of The Prophet McCartney with a burning bag of sh*t on his head. I don't hate the guy, I don't worship the guy...as a solo artist, he bores me to tears. I'll just say, by way of punching my own ticket to the Beatles forum, that John Lennon was one of the greatest minds and souls of the twentieth century...I...M...H...OOOOOO....
Oh yeah, and just like I thought back in '64: Ringo Rules....

Amen to that.
Welcome back BTW. Quit disappearing when people are taking swipes at you for crying out loud. LOL

Don't kick me when I'm down, but feel free to do it when I'm out...

If a guy has to shovel a few sidewalks, a guy has to shovel a few sidewalks! Who can fault him for taking some time off (after all, he was shovelling....)
I'm here for you Dane. I understand.

Bill
The worst part is this is the second time this winter alone that I've had to bail him out while he was shovelling.... Well you get the drift...

Thanks, Bill...damn near had a heart attack, but that's better than receiving a citation for not being a good citizen...supposed to get to maybe 5 below zero tonight here...
I just saw Peter Gabriel live at the opening of the Winter Olympics singing brother Lennons' 'Imagine'...
I rest my case. To Hades with the Grammys...

I dont mind being packaged, ESPECIALLY when I'm oot and aboot. Its all in good fun, and if its not I just ignore them. Sometimes I think that we all need to lighten up some... (and I DONT exclude myself from that statement at all)
(ps: no snow here except on the summit of Mauna Kea)

Speaking of snow, I see that the east coast is going to get blasted this weekend.

That's a great shot of the lads Kent.
Thanks for that one. I'll add that to my collection.
