Holy...
It must be a personal " I've always wanted one" kind of thing!
I wouldn't think you'd be able to get enough money out of a rebuilt bass to make it worthwhile otherwise, but who knows.

Kevin, that's exactly why I wanted it. Unfortunately I had to factor shipping to the UK and (ludicrous) duty into the equation, and my pockets are not as deep as I'd like at the moment, otherwise I'd have bid higher too. But I'm glad its gone to a good home, and John will be able to restore it beautifully I'm sure.

OK! I'm up.....
Yep I'm going to make a new neck thru.
Single piece w/Walnut (or Koa) wings.
Haven't thought about headstock shape but I'm leaning towards
'69 again....
As for price-
Way I see it: A pitted and peeling TP sold a few months back for
$499.
Treble PU: $150
Neck PU:$100
TRC: $100
Jack Plate: $50
Body wings w/CB :$$$?
Fun of building a new neck: priceless
BB gun mania knows no bounds....
Also-
This should go in the Rickenfield charter:
If broken Ricks touch ebay, such broken Ricks shall become property of the village idiot.
And since he amn't here......

John, this will be the project of the year. I'm sure the 'new' bass will be totally stunning!

$499.00 for a 3 screw tailpiece? Wow, I wonder how much the one I just got is worth? Mine's not pitted but it does need chrome.

Did you get that other one that showed up...?
That looked like a deal...

Well, Chef, good luck with the project. It's one of the best colors, IMO. Sounds like you're up to the challenge of the neck construction yourself, which makes the money issue more reasonable.
Again, I say it's good to see a veritable resurrection taking place.

Oops-
There's a fairly rough one on the 'bay....
I look for ward to this project. When I finished the '73 reneck I was at a loss.
Here I go again....
I think it'll be another v65-9....

I'd get a couple of modern 4003 truss rods and have Dale Fortune(aka Oscar Goldman) rebuild and refinish the bass. Then it would be as authentic and functional as it could ever be. But that's just me.
