I'm thinking about submitting this, but it's really short. I think it needs something. Any suggestions?

Great little melody and groove, you just need to "tighten up the screws" a little, and add singing. How many of the submitted songs will have computer drums, I wonder ? It's a major commitment to get a drummer and record real drums, for certain, but well worth it, if you can do it. That groove is too cool for a machine !

That sounds really cool, Greg!
Steve's right, it needs vocals.... Love that Rickenjangle!

OK, I'm back on this. By my count, we have seventeen possible contributors so far, plus possibly some songs from the previous, unfinished AGR project.
I'll be having the U.S. (and Canada, if anyone wants) submissions sent to my work address, as I get so much junk mail at home that it's a real hassle to go through every piece of mail to sort out the good, plus I will be able to acknowledge receipt via e-mail or Forum post early enough in the day for even those in the Eastern Time Zone.
I have e-mailed Tony and we will try to iron out the remaining details, hopefully shortly! Hang in there, folks!

I've got a track I'd love to contribute - it's a live recording of a bass solo with my '76 4001.

I'm currently trying to compile a list of potential contributors as well as a list of "requirements" (not extremely restrictive) for the submissions. I will be coordinating my work with Tony and we (i.e., one of us) will post an update in this thread when we get things nailed down, hopefully soon.

One other thing: this project is not going to be "Forum Idol" in any way. All submissions will be treated equally, although for CD#1 we might give preference to those with more Ricks in use (I still have to check with Tony about that). Based on the number of responses so far (nearly 30!), I think that we'll wind up with a CD#2 as well, so probably everyone's submissions will wind up on a CD.

You mean this isn't a competition ? I think Tony set the expectations, when he said the recording should, at least, be pretty good, although a professional recording is not expected. I think the important thing is that, in addition to featuring the Rickenbacker sound, submissions should sound like completed songs, and not demos. It sounds like alot of work for Tony & Co., so we should all be expected to contribute our best effort, to make it worthwhile. Just my $0.02.

I understand your point, Steve, but I think that the Forum is quite cosmopolitan when it comes to abilities, and that should be reflected in the CD, being that the CD is intended for Forum consumption and not for chart-topping on the Billboard Top 40.

I'm just a wannabe myself. I only pretend to be a rock star.

Sorry this is taken a little longer than envisaged....a heavy workload, combined with computer problems is to blame. My fault & apologies to all.
However, I finish a project in the studio tomorrow afternoon & then I will be fully focused. Please forgive the delay.
All will be revealed very soon.....no one is too late to submit work.

Tony, I mixed two very Ric-centric songs over the weekend. They are very much within the realm of pop Ric jangle - sorry, I'm a traditionalist. I can't decide which of the two to send in. I hope you'll think they're pretty ter-Ric-iff.

I think I know the song I will send...
Contains Ric 1997SPC/VB, 360V64, and 650A/VT.
