They did well though Alisha.

I thought that was a tragic result. What a way to lose a match that was so evenly contested. The Aussie keeper was superb and they have a great coach that brought the best out of the team.

There's always next time Aitch.

Thanks Alisha and Brian.

Yep! The Spanish ref must have been a diving judge at the Barcelona Olympics. Lougainis would have been proud of that one........

Oh well...... 100% behind the Poms now!! Image

Yes H, the only time I've seen any player allegedly fouled who's smiling on the way down and appealing for the penalty before he hits the turf... and I stayed up til 3.00am to see this!

Still, if the Aussies couldn't score for 40 minutes playing against ten men they probably wouldn't have done better in extra time..

Spot on, Lee. You've got to make the most of those opportunities and the Aussies didn't.... simple as that!

I was just sad to see the Socceroos exit that way. I really hope Brazil doesn't win....With sports nowadays they are somewhat predictable as far as outcomes (not all)....I just want a really great upset or some underdog to go all the way.

GO ENGLAND! (not that they are an underdog, but I sure would love them to win it all)

ENGERLAND! Don't fail me now! I'll be in Palm Desert cheering on the Three Lions with a pitcher of Boddington's and a fan to kill the 115 degree heat this Saturday!

A pitcher of Boddington's at 7:30 in the morning? Dang Ben, you're a more hardcore fan than I am! It'll be me and the dog on Saturday morning in the condo Image

This weekend will be crazy in Europe. Everyone flying their national flags and no one talking about anything else.

The officiating has to improve. As ever, FIFA's political correctness about having referee's from places where there is not a strong professional league undermines the whole competition.

I'm still in disbelief at the Aussie "penalty"..
The Italian football corruption scandal could be fitted perfectly into that outrageous piece of officiating...

The officiating has been atrocious. It has ruined several games that I have seen and influenced others because the cards carry over.
That being said, GO ENGLAND!

And what's wrong with drinking a couple pitchers of beer early on a fine Saturday morning in a brisk 110 degree heat in the middle of the desert?

ENGERLAND! Rooney's going to OWN this match!

Nothing like playing two hours of hard fought football only to have the whole thing be decided by pk's. Imagine if basketball games that ended in ties were decided by free-throws? Still, nothing better than seeing the Argentines get booted from the Cup. Don't cry for me Argentina!
