Ilan, JH has stated in the past that the reason for the change from FW to non-FW inlays was because it strengthens the neck more. But you're correct - there are several modern guitar models (but never any reissue or otherwise basses) that have them.

360/12c63, 381v69, 660 and 660/12, 360CW, 350SH, 360v64, perhaps a few others.

yes you see them on guitars ... but I don't think they will ever do a bass that way again ...

Though the "S" would be the best thing ever, I'll take a redesigned bridge and/or thinner neck profile anyday . . . I've been holding off purchasing the Hipshot bridge to see what the redesigned Ric bridge will be like . . . as far as horseshoes go, I've yet to hear the difference between a horseshoe and a bridge hi-gain . . . I'm sure plenty of other people would be super-ecstatic to be able to get horseshoes again.

ya the re-issue horseshoe sounds a lot like the the high gain ... it is more eye candy ...

Interesting. The horseshoe on my CS - which I think you've played Jeff - sounds quite different to the high gain on my 4003. I guess the difference is not as dramatic as a comparison with an original horseshoe would be.

Jon, does your CS have the bass cut capacitor?

Just a note from the new rookie...

On my Ashdown Mag with the VU meter on the high input my Squire barely moves the needle at full on, where my 4003 on high input needs to be set at 1/2 or less to stay out of the red. I haven't tried the padded input with the 4003 yet, so no comment there.

John, I've never looked, but from listening I would say not. Tonally, the sound is very full and very different to the Ric I have with the cap.

Ray, I must look at the meter on my Ashdown. My perception is that there is little difference in volume output between my CS and my 4003. However my band, who were already impressed with the 4003, certainly noticed the difference in sound.

Hmmm? Is this the new bridge?

http://www.rickenbacker.com/model.asp?model=4003

I don't remember seeing this before, check out the SMALL picture on the top LEFT side of the page.....Is this the new bridge or is it the 4004 bridge. I can't tell from the angle of the photo...

That's the 4004 bridge. Note no surround to the treble pickup and no pickguard. There's supposed to be some news on Rickenbacker company site today. Don't know if it will be on the 75th event or some new feature.

Another famous quote from that movie that seems appropiate...."I got a ROCK".

What happened to today's announcement?

"Another famous quote from that movie that seems appropiate...."I got a ROCK"."

Unlike, say, Twisted Sister's "I WANNA ROCK!!!"

Dunno about the announcement.
