Well....installed the toasters inside the gold covers on my 4004 Cii....Excellent !! Nice and deep with plenty of sizzle/clang !

Yup- welcome to the 4004/toasters club, it's definitely a different sound, a little 4001 mixed with a little walnut, a good amp with clarity will let you hear the subtle differences. I usually play with both vols at 11, but rolling off either one gives you some wild variations, soloing the neck toaster gives a nice mellow thumpy sound.

Jeff....saw that bass at 2;00 am this morning , almost did a BIN . Thought.....I'll show this to my wife/singer/songwriter.....she said....." that's not red " !!! Thanks for the heads up though .

Mark....that is the perfect description of the 4004 / toaster combo . Hits right in the chest !

Rolling off the neck toaster a bit and playing fingerstyle near the bridge pickup produces a nice burpy Jaco tone which is quite nice, something virtually inpossible to get on other Ricks (except on toaster equipped 4005s).

Ever have the feeling early 2007 is going to be a time of a lot of orders for 4003 basses?!
