Roy back to the thread topic for a minute. Why is it that the group "Them" does not appear in the analysis?

They had a number 10 hit with "Baby Please Don't Go" in 1964 featuring Jimmy Page on guitar. Jimmy was a session player at the time.

BTW I did see Van Morrison's name in the second part of the study but I assume that was in reference to his solo work.

Or, "Here Comes The Night" which made it to #2 in the U.K.

Them did indeed have a number 10 hit Brian as you correctly point out, however that was in the UK not US, this analysis is US.

However they would be included in the next chart, if I do it, as I suggested of top 40 entries between 59 to 2000, they had 2 top 40 entries in US in 1965 Here Comes The Night number 24 and Mystic Eyes number 35.

Clearly I was not succinct enough when opening the thread, my apologies, my findings are based on the American charts published by Billboard, not Cashbox, before anyone quotes them.

If for comparison purposes you would like a breakdown of how the same acts did in Britain happy to do it, could be interesting.

No intention of being critical Roy. How could I ever criticise your work? I am sincerely impressed by your knowledge and I have the deepest respect for you personally. But enough of that soapy stuff. LOL

Them, you see (sounds like poor grammar doesn't it?) were one of my favorite bands, even if Jimmy page did play some of the best guitar parts.

I would love to see a UK analysis personally. I assuming that it would generate even more interest in this thread, because it's a great subject IMO.

Thanks Brian, I think one of my favourite tracks by Them was Gloria, covered I believe by a Canadian Band, Shadows Of Knight, or were they American?.

Gloria - you mean the one also covered by the Doors?

I did not ever hear their version of "Gloria" Roy but the Shadows of Knight appear to be an American band, at least according to Wilkepedia.
