Bad news, guys: the intro to R.E.M.'s "So. Central Rain" was played on Mitch Easter's Fender XII  (see related threads). I'd have to go with R.E.M.'s "Green Grow the Rushes": lovely chime and shimmer from what is clearly a Rick 12! 8)

Wow, good call. I love that tune. It is pure 60s Rickenbacker pop...but done two decades later. Time warp when you listen to that tune.

There's nothing in music that compares to a Rickenbacker 12 string guitar break in a song. This one starts at 0:46.

"Only My Heart Can Tell" by Paul Carrack. Mike Campbell played the 12.

It sounds to my ears like the Rain Parade needs a tuner.

Has anyone mentioned Arthur Lee and Love?
"You I'll Be Following", for example.

"Not the Lovin' Kind", by Dino, Desi, & Billy (not sure on this one).

"Lady Jane", possibly?

Edit: Just went back and listened to the song. It sounds like a Rick 12 unplugged and miked (lots of pick noise, but all in all, it sounds like my 360/12 unplugged). Christian B. would know what Stones songs used a Rick.

:)

The Rain Parade was a trippy, 80s psychedelia band. Anything that sounds off was all part of the general plan.

My intonation is all over the place, but this song made me feel better. So, uhh, all my recordings are heavily influenced by the Rain Parade. Yeah, that's the ticket!

That clip was my first exposure to The Rain Parade. Beautiful, chiming 12-string and overall a very pretty song. 8)

"Stars on the Water" by Ry Cooder... I did the Jimmy Buffett version on my 370/12 this past weekend. Solos sounded really spacey with the chorus cranked.. Does that count?

Absolutely!

I love the early 80's video where he plays on the bay on Miami, and does that song.

"Lady Came From the South" -SE&L

Given my age in Ric addiction years, I can't believe I never heard this until recently.

Brian Jones used an electric dulcimer on "Lady Jane"
