And all I did was ask what kind of screws would be used.....
I really stirred up some "s" this time!

Last weekend I successfully applied the hammer-punch-method on two of the Grovers on my '74 4001FG. IT WORKS PERFECTLY! Even though one of the Grover's base plate was cracked at all four pins. I was just very very carefully with the punch and afterwords "sealed" the pin-hole joint with some cyanacrylic glue. Thank you Paul W. for the advise. This is a forum of long term collection of experts experience!!! Great help for everyone!

Good work, Pete! Glad it worked so well for you!
My operative maxim is that if it is the repair method John Hall uses on a Rick, then it is the method that I will use on a Rick.

What I have gleaned from lurking on this thread:
1. Gravity sucks.
2. Too little or too much Friction can hurt you.
3. If my 4001 ever pops a Grover - I will try the re-swage. If that doesn't hold or I botch it up - little screws here I come. Then I try to locate and afford some replacement Wavys... man is this a great Forum or what!

I like gravity, because it keeps my feet on the ground.

I also like the forum, because it makes me have problems, I did not have before (last year I bought my first Grover-Rick)
