No knock at anyone here, just a side thought I got...

I wonder how many people would see that headstock shape on an acoustic guitar (non-Ric) and call it ugly?

Just thinking out loud, I know people here have alot more sense than that, but I'm sure someone would critize something until they found out it came from their favorite company...

I for one love it! Looks different, could do some serious damage, and throws off the look in a good way!

FH, hmm? Maybe F.C. Hall designed that headstock.

Nicolas, I cannot give the exact details of the years, as others can here, however I believe why people are so excited about the head stock is that it is a throw back to some of the early Ric hollow bodies.

It would be like buying a new Corvette to find out that it had a 1967 tri-powered 427 in it. Which would be way cool.

Darren, I believe, years ago, that Toshio Sagabe told me that he was hoping to order six. So, six. Total. And I don't have one.....yet.

Not wanting to be one to pee on the party, but am I the only person here who looked at that headstock and felt a little bit... funny? I think it looks pretty ugly, personally.

And after what I'm about to say next, I'm ready for the enevitable hating but it has to be said, but: If this was a bog-standard acoustic, not made by Ric, I can't help but imagine reactions from people here would be very different. Am I wrong in these assumtions?

Will, i agree in that the headstock looks a bit - mmm - strange. As for "what if it wasn't a ric" - i wouldn't dare make assumptions cause i simply don't know.

Will, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I don't take any offence to your comments at all. I didn't design the steer-head guitar; I just found it and bought it!

Rickenbacker acoustics are in a class all of their own, in my opinion. Unless you've actually played one, you can't know what I mean. It's a shame that more people don't have the opportunity to feel, play and hear just how good they are.

I like the fact that the steer-head headstock borrows very heavily from the design of the late 50s and early 60s. It's quirky and unusual, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

You're probably right, that if this shape appeared on a non-Rickenbacker bog standard acoustic, people's reactions might be different. Then again, when compared with a Rickenbacker, every other acoustic IS bog standard, in my humble opinion
