Jeff, I noticed that about the magazine also. The small point size (type size), along with a serif font (that's the little skinny feet and flourishes on the letters) don't lend themselves to reverse type (that's white type within a black or colored backdrop). In addition, I found "ink gain" on several pages that started to make the type drop out.

I liked the piece, but it is hardly comprehensive, no mention of the 4005 (one pic, though uncaptioned) or the 2000 or 3000 series basses. The "interviews" with John Hall and Chris Squire were much too short to be of much value. Still, it is one more source of information that is all too hard to find . . . except right here on the RickResource.

From what I gathered the article was focusing on the 4001/3 basses; the pic of the 4005 was out of place in it.

I like the part of the CS interview where he sort of redeems himself regarding the "I invented Rick-O-Sound"!

I just LOVE the smell of that ink they use! When I pulled the mags out of the mailing envelope, that glorious aromatic non-soy volatiles smell hit me in both nostrils.

How fondly I remember that stuff - much better and more vivid than the junk non-volatile soy inks with which we have been burdened in the USA for many years now.

I do agree with others who say, basically, that this one is best read under high-brightness, high color-temperature lighting. With your glasses if you have any...

The best part about soy printing inks on a higher clay content paper is how the oils in your skin will cause the ink to smear. Not!

Paul, the 4005 is captioned 'Fireglow (sic) model is in fact semi-solid 4005', or at least it is in my copy .

It is a very good magazine. Beautiful pictures and excellent content. I'm a big Tony Levin fan, so it was a bonus to read his interview too. Love the Squire interview as well.

Scott, Steve and Mark, your magazines went out this morning but unfortunately our postal workers have just now gone on strike until next Wednesday. So I'm afraid that they will take an extra week to get to you.

Peter, you're right! I missed the tiny reversed-out caption. Still, it's the only mention of the 4005; there's one sentence hinting at the 4002, one pic of a 4004C, and of course, the Lemmy. I guess I can't really fault them for what they didn't put in. That would take a book. Hey, there's an idea . . . !

The article about a 1975 4001 seems to present pics from a rather 1973 model when looking at the serial number starting with "M"?

Maybe they mixed up the photos without realizing that they had used a photo of a 73 in the pasteup?

As soon as I read the article I e-mailed them pointing that out Peter....

Has anybody who ordered a copy of this magazine from me not received it yet? Just checking that they all got there ok.
