How is that an oxymoron? There's lossless and lossy compression, you know. Lossy compression is like a JPEG or an MP3 in that the original content is permanently altered and unrecoverable, lossless compression is like a .zip file - the original content is 100% restored after decompressing.

So, not an oxymoron, but in fact a correct description.
