yeah youre kinda close the that tunnel accident arent you. i grew up in modesto if you know where that is.

I'm literally down the street from that tunnel accident and have pass it on the way to work. I've heard several of the truck drivers were never found. It seems they left the scene. So much for NAFTA.

Craig, that is great they refunded a decent amount after you proved it was not a V63. Kudos for your afternoon of work and time. I just got an SX Jazz, and it is actually a very decent bass after I leveled the frets.

alright fellas. im man enough to admit that this bass amp is a pile of junk. took it to work today, got it all set up, plugged in, miked up, switched on, and............ it wont come off of standby. just red led, every 30 seconds it tries to go off standby, makes a noise and goes right back on to standby. alright, i got it coming. let me have it. and if you can, please set it to the tune of imagine. you know, imagine a bass amp / made in vietnam......

Craig, I can think of a three reasons right off. Reseat all the tubes so they are fully into their sockets. Second, the bias settings may be way off. Third, there could be a bad tube, especially a final tube. Basically, there is a DC voltage that shouldn't be there and the protection circuitry is keeping the amp in protect mode (staying in standby).

thanks john. i will try reseating the tubes. really there is no excuse for this though. i mean this thing is 2 days old, and has only been played a grand total of about 2 - 3 hours. right?

thanks john, the tubes were not only not seated properly, they were about to fall out! i play pretty loud, must have shook em loose. they have springs "holding" them in place, but not doing a very good job of it. any old school tricks i should know about to get these bad boys to stay put? works fine now. for now.

Craig, you could have some of the people who put it together crawl in there and hold the tubes down...

...and please, let's not denigrate other ethnic groups. Those Vietnamese workers are being driven (and probably underpaid) by American management, working (almost spelled it, "whoring", oops) hard to maximize profits for Wall Street...

Great Jeff! I'm impressed.

Craig, I'll bet they were shaken loose between boxing at the factory and you playing it - think of the journey and how much jostling it probably took. The spring-loaded "hats" hold the tubes down for the usual road tripping you will give it. Glad it was that easy to solve!
