I have a 4001S that I did a pseudo-MMT paintjob on about 10 years ago, came out good IMO.
Yes it did, Ronn. But I have absolutely no talent at all in that area so I didn't take a swing at it and sent it to Paul.

Only LEFTIES should be allowed to paint the 4001 like Sir Paul's MMT bass.(ha ha)
Seriously, C64 4001's should ALL have right handed necks like the originals.Sorry, but right hand models with left hand necks look dumb.Hey, why not print the lettering on the truss rod covers for righty C64's backwards so right handed players can play in the mirror and their bass will look more like Paul's!! And why, oh why won't Rickenbacker
re-continue producing LEFT HANDED 4001C-64's?? Waving right handed 4001 C-64's in the face of left hand players is pure dicrimination (under the guise of practicality) against those players who happen to be born left handed. I thought these basses were re- issued as a tribute to Paul McCartney who happens to be LEFT HANDED...Hello!!!If Ric is going to make righties of this particular bass then at the very LEAST they should be offered in Lefty. Who's with me on this?

Interesting Idea:
Can our resident computer artists let us know if a film (something that would stick to the guitar body) of the MMT paint job can be done on this said film and printed? It would then be super easy to place the placards on the body.
Same with the Rocky Strat.
Comments?

I seem to remember Fender doing just that a few years back with some Hendrix Strat.

Fender did. I thought it looked pretty cool.

Yeah, I'm nowhere close to being with you on this. But it is a moot point because youo can't order them right handed either. But I can't imagine the market being huge for a left handed model.

I would love an application to apply to my lefty 4001C64 bass. Has anyone made anything like this yet out of a cling type material or stick on material? I would think a vinyl shop could make some up with a proper template.

Ronn, your MMT was on my hard drive for inspiration! As I recall, you changed one of the colors, didn't you?

Joe, do it the right way. Speak to Paul and get a quote from him. You can't compare a cling type application to a true refinish job.

The most accurate would be the"real" paint job.
However-I do know that there are very thin films that would cling to the body of the bass.
It would be a design on a PC/Apple then to a film cutter.
For the budget minded MMT player-this may be the thing.
It can also be used to prodce the "Bassman" decal on the hofner from LIB.
Just a matter of getting the right design and cling to the table....

Joe, talk to Jeff L for sure.
