Wow, this really had issues. Looks like Larry is taking great steps to not let it happen again. She's always been special to you John, so it will be good to see you playing her again.

John,

The bass is finished...The neck is dead straight under tension, with low action, so the problem has been solved. Sounds great with the bridge pickup.

It looks good, JB. You excited? You're getting your baby back! I thought it originally had a toaster?

It "originally" had boring inlays and no CB. Anything goes with this one. :D

I'm particularly interested in the "one vintage knob" mod

This is an easy one - this bass has been a 4000 for a while and that helps me remember which is the volume knob.

I get confused with four knobs, too.

I saw this bass in person on a recent tour of Larry's shop. It's a stunner! :)
Great Ramp In My Opinion.

It looks great with the non-ambered fretboard finish.

Glad Larry got it all sorted out for you, John. I know it is a special bass for you. Having the action back where it should be and STAYING there will be great. Enjoy!

Thank you guys! I am thrilled.

I'm gonna have a little fun with the electronics when it gets home. Since I've been playing out with a 2-band Stingray for the last two years, I have really gotten accustomed to the layout and the huge bass boost (and treble boost when I need it) available to me. So, it's gonna have a single HB-1 bridge pickup (no neck pickup connected, just something there for cosmetic purposes) and a 2-band preamp from SGD Luthiere. The idea is to seamlessly integrate it back into being my #1. :D

Wow, I am excited to hear how it all turns out. Cool bass and I hope it's everything you want it to be.
