+1 on Mapleglo, then some of the Fireglo. I generally like finishes where you can see the grain of the wood...

Fireglo (without the pink center). I actually own two AFG's, and when I saw the new FG in a store the other day, began to wish I'd waited a year to buy
Since I found the neck on my 360 AFG suffers from "a negative relief differential," I'm even more bummed. . .

Oh without a doubt, the new Fireglo finish is my personal pick.

Yet here it is 2009 and they're blacker than they've ever been...Go figure. Of course you probably haven't seen the new ones have you?
Nah, haven't seen them. My '06 c58 is very black. My '07 c64 not so much.

2007 was somewhat of a seminal year as far as our colors go. We re-examined our colors and suppliers to see how we could make the standard finishes better. Eventually, what came out of that in early 2008 was a much deeper black than before and the new version of Midnight Blue that has captivated so many people.

It depends on the instrument for me.
I am REALLY liking the pics of the new Fireglos that are coming out now. I like them even better than my AmberFireglo and that's saying something.
I think Fireglo and Jetglo can look really nice on anything. I would be a bit choosy about what I would want in Midnight Blue or Mapleglo. I would want something that is really nicely figured (like a 381 or 660) for Mapleglo (although sometimes they do show up on a 330 or 360 figured too). I think a 360 looks nice in Midnight Blue, but I haven't been crazy about the 330s or 620s in Midnight Blue.
My most beautiful instrument by far is my 730L-12 in Fireglo. Nothing can touch it.

If you haven't see a 381 with the new MID finish, you gotta check out some of the shots from NAMM. It is just awesome...

A mate of mine has an interesting take on this. He has said on many occasion, "I hate black guitars. The only guitars I like in black are Rickenbackers. They were made to be black".
I like JG too but I voted FG. It was a close call. I originally ordered my 330/6 in MG but with the waiting time, I took the FG which was in stock. Though I have never regretted it, I still hope to pick up my own MG some day.

For me, it's also about the instrument...although FG is great on anything.
As cool as a MID 381 may be, I like trans finishes on those models because the wood figure is usually amazing.

Don't rub it in, Ben...it came here to SF, and the dealer (Rocker Guitars) told me it was sold to someone else, a mere two hours before I contacted them...
