To get back to the subject of this thread, it is now Saturday night at nearly 9:00PM on the East Coast, and still no word from the NAMM as far as Rickenbacker. By the way, I have noticed the time stamps associated with my entries seem to be one hour 'fast' compared to my local time. Is it possible that this website is hosted in Novia Scotia or somewhere else more easterly that the eastern US?

Nick I am not the only one who likes 21 frets on the 330 and 360. We have had 30 years of 24 frets why not go back to the classic ? They did the inlays and headstock, why not go all the way ?

Those of us who have been around on the forum long enough have seen many peaks and valleys. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. RIC has a huge backlog that their trying desperatly to get within reason, and I'm sure that they have new products they'd love to bring forward, and in time they will...

This is an '08 4003 that a forum member just happened to be lucky enough to walk into. This is proof to me that RIC is trying different options and has something up their collective sleeves.

NAMM is just a show. JH has class. Give him time.

I would guess that those of us on this forum are a tiny percentage of RIC's customers and probably tend to desire more variety/options/colors/etc. than the vast majority out there. RIC has to do what they can to satisfy the most customers possible, and reducing the number of models and colors to reduce the backlog will accomplish that goal.

Agreed, First off I wouldnt spend that much on any instrument no matter who made it or played it, I feel very fortinate that I have 5 Rics already in my possecesion, I had 8 sold one and traded two in, I feel bad for the people that would love to have a Ric and almost had enough saved to get one then Blam, the prices went up , thus priceing them out as well, and due to economy and price hikes, im betting that most members of this forum are unfortunately priced out as well even though they would like to get another one, I have 2 4003's, 14001C64, 1 4004Cii, and one 330, that more Rics already than I ever need in my lifetime, Im selling the 330 , its only been played a couple of times very, very briefly and has just been sitting in its case, (im a bass player)I would buy another 4003 if Ric brought turquoise back, I have have seen them on ebay a few times but I want a new one not a used one.

Obviously they don't have 21 frets, one buys a V or C series, but it's possible that the new guitars might be getting thinner tops already; I played two 381s and they were both extremely light in weight, and quite resonant; obviously more wood is being hollowed out of these bodies. I didn't have a micrometer with me, but some of this extra wood removal could be in the form of a thinner top. I also noticed that on the 12 strings, the channels in the headstock for the harmony strings have a harper edged top than my `91, which has a rounded edge. I like the new look.

I actually like the 24 fret models.

This is one of the nicest basses from the 4001-4003 family I have ever seen. Awesome. What a beauty.

+1, Counting the two that have been photographed at NAMM, that now makes
three beautiful flamed maple 4003s that have surfaced.
