You've made the right decision Jake.

Just a quick question, should I try something different and convert it into one of these:
My dream 12-string IS a 1993/12...
The money from the sale of my 660/12TP will be to find a new 6-string 1997 or 1998 (1997SPC). (NO-ONE SAY A WORD)

Geez, my head is spinning from all the whiplash in these posts. At this point in the thread, Jake, I think the answer to your OP subject heading is "yes." And please send me some pics, I'll get you a second opinion if you like, plus I really want to see this train wreck! Sorry if I sound harsh, but you asked for it, dude!

Jake,
I applaud your decision yesterday to take on the repair as a long-term project. Good on you!
Given it's a long-term gig, I'm not sure we're ready to hear plans for extensive modification quite yet. Let's keep those ideas for another day....

Yep, the repair is the only way. You'll still have a rare-ish 1997, and in addition it will carry some of that Townshend-la-mojo. My 1997's are such wonderful players, I'd fix them no matter what happened to them. Well, except if one accidently brushed up against Paris Hilton and caught cooties.

I think that all it takes is to be in the same room...I hear she brushes against a lot.

There ya go, Jake! A goal and a guitar after! Good decision.
