So what you are saying is that you are going to sell back tom ethe one I sold you? Is that what I'm reading?simonmole wrote:must admit I haven't been by for a while due to legendary phobia of my computer (scary things best left to the young, while oldies like me then have a clear run at the Rickenbacker shops), but my Rickenbacker bass "stash" is I'm sure nearer 30 than 40!!!! The rest of the Rickenbacker tally is 6 and 12 strings which OBVIOUSLY get played less than the PROPER Rickenbackers with sensibly thick strings, and only 4 of them at that (or, sometimes 8 of them).
Mine seem in the main to divide into groups of my four fave colours of azure/maple/jet/fire- glos, and include 4005 and 4001 and 4003 basses, 4001v63s and a few S models, checkerbounds and then a few oddities and unusual colours!!! missing a V63 in azureglo but I won't lose any sleep about it! Not surprisingly the 4005 quartet mean a lot and are an outright guilty pleasure, er, without in fact any guilt whatsoever! Perhaps slightly surprisingly my favourites to play are the late 70's 4001 basses, these I know are perhaps a bit "standard" (!!!) compared to early 70's or S models, etc, but they really draw me and my mind judges ALL basses, Rickenbacker or otherwise, by the models I've played for 29 years now! The one worn/slung (sorry!)/battered/played/fooled about with by far the most is my 2nd ever Azureglo, from 76 but mine since 1982, signed on the back for me by Bruce Foxton and Glen Matlock, who both basically got me into music in the first place, so its also an inspiration to look at, let alone stuff through my two Trace Elliot V8s and commence armageddon. But then, the rest are Rickenbackers too so they're ALL nice!!!!!!!!
