Oops! Me and my fumble fingers! I forgot to insert the band's name! That was The Knack and now I gotta ask: Was that a Rick bass on the recording of "Sharona?"

Sure looks like one from this zoomed out distance. :)

And a lot of punks played Rics. Mainly due to their relatively low cost in the late 70s / early 80s.

Actually, the Doors had a bass player in the studio, many if not most of their studio recordings have electric string bass on them. Give the albums a good listen, you'll see![/quote]

Incidentally, I played bass for a while in a Doors tribute band, the UK Doors.

I found the tracks really enjoyable to play Ric bass over, particularly 'Five To One', 'Love Me Two Times' etc.

Didn't really start out as a fan, but by the end, some of that stuff had really grown on me! :D

My first thought was "Something" by The Beatles. Great bass part, and it's in the set most every night.

McCartney's "masterpiece" IMHO. Great choice, Ronn!

"South Side Of The Sky" by Yes has quickly become a new favorite.

Oddly, when I diddle around lately with other "famous" songs/riffs at sound check and such, the Squire ones that have been bubbling up have been ones he played on some of his non-Ricks, like the middle section of "Parallels," "Lucky Seven," and "Does It Really Happen?"

Also lately, it seems I can't pick up any 4-stringed bass without playing the riffs from "Female Drummer" by Steeleye Span. And if photographic/videographic inference is correct, that actually is a Rick 1999 that Ashley Hutchings was using.

A song I've been playing lately that sounds really good using my 4001 is poison whiskey by lynyrd skynyrd. Very fun song to play!
