I just bought a Vox AC4TV. Sounds really great through my 360. I can't say enough about how much I love this new little beast!

I've just got a small Acoustic B20 that I play through.

A 1959 Fender Bassman.

I gig through a VOX AC-15...stock with the Wharfdale speaker...I absolutely love it...at home I use a VOX VR-30...this is a great little amp that sounds monstrous...I mostly use my VOX Pathfinder head to record in ther home studio

Cool. Yours is one of the few positive comments I've read about Wharfdales. Tried a Vox AC15 with a Wharfdale, and I thought it sounded pretty good. I almost thought I didn't need a compressor to get That Jangle & Chime out of my 360/12.

Most of the time, I run my twelves through one or both of the Super Mini Reverbs. They make a nice pair for stereo. Nothing fancy, just Pathfinder heads with reverb and tremolo, but when angered, these little buggers will kick some serious butt! For bass, either an old Acoustic 140 head on a cab I built with a 15" JBL E140 in it, or my Traynor YBA 200 tube head and their 1x15, 2x10, plus tweeter cab. For little stuff I have a 10-watt, 2-channel rechargable Traynor coming in that should be interesting and a Traynor Dynabass 100 combo. The endless search for new toys in the universe......

Everyone told me to either get the one with the Alnico or swap the wharfedale...I see no need...I get compliments all of the time on my tone...all I use is a 25' guitar cable.

I'm sure the Alnico sounds great...but for the time being, I'm very pleased with what I'm hearing.

I hear you. The alnico blues are a little out of the reach of my budget.

Has your back gotten miraculously better? Your Dr. Z can't be much lighter than your old AC-30....though it does come in two parts as opposed a single 75 lb box of rocks....

Hey John - Hope the AC-30 is working out well! I dearly loved that amp , broke my heart to sell it. But broke my back to keep it
Anyway 1) My back , although not "healed" is improved thanks to therapy / exercise program. 2) Z head weighs 22 lbs, Z cab 34 lbs.
I have help loading / unloading at gigs, and use a cart , but the weight , 1 piece at a time , is tolerable. I do miss that BIG AC-30 tone.

I'm currently using a JTM-45 in combo format.

I normally use a 1971 Sunn Solarus head through a 70's Sunn 612S cabinet. (nevermind the esquire...the middle Sunn cab is my roommate's 1x15)


Sunn amps are severely underrated for clean tones - normally you see the O))) logo and think drone metal, sludge, stoner metal, but these things have massive headroom and are super super super loud. My Solarus doesn't get dirty until around 7, and with 60 watts coming from two 6550's it puts out plenty of sparkly clean sound, it sounds more like a 120 watt amp. Rickenbacker and Sunn makes a nice combination that you don't see everyday.

I just got a Sunn Concert Lead head in the mail, I'm about to test it with the Rick and see what happens...also finishing up another Sunn 412S cabinet from about '71 that someone covered with white spraypaint.

Occasionally I use the Vox Scorpion (pictured above), but I don't really like it too much. It hums like crazy although it sounds decent for an older low-wattage SS combo. I've also used my Fender Blues DeVille 212 combo with the Rick and it's wonderful, as you would expect. Played through a Hot Rod DeVille 410 a couple of weeks ago, and we all know those sound good with Ricks. At our last show I had to use a Crate VTX200something and it's a piece of junk.

I recorded part of our first album with a Spectra...something...it was a small 1x12 combo, black, solid state but it sounded great. Reminded me of the Lab Series amps.

I used to have a '68 Bassman with a matching 2x15 cab, but I had to sell it to finance the Sunn addiction...wish I could hear the Rickenbacker through it just once...

All my Ric basses go through my 300w Markbass 121P combo.

They sound phenomenal through it, by far the best thing I've plugged into.

For practice, I use a little Orange Crush 20w...average amp, but a lovely colour!!

My Rick 4001 currently plugs into an Ashdown ABM500 head and Schroeder 1212L cab. Incredibly loud and well-defined sound. I'm considering going stereo, so any suggestions would be appreciated!
