Original Bass VI was released in '61, and "I Walk the Line" was ''56, "Cry Cry Cry" was '55, and "Big River" was '58. The Fender Bass VI was brought out because Leo was a country fan and was impressed with the sound of the Dano, so he determined to out-do the Dano. He did, if his aim was to create the ultimate liquid percussive bass sound. "Tic Tac" bass became a trademark style of country playing beginning with the Cash songs...

I'm picking mine up in a little bit along with a Ric 12...I had to move some instruments home as I'm trying to pack up my apartment but I've been listening to the Beach Boys the whole time and have the need to play some.

Front: Carvin LB60, Acoustic Black Widow (built by Mosrite), Gibson Les Paul Money Bass

Back: Schecter Stiletto Elite 4, Gibson Ripper, '74 Fender Precision.

I also have another Precision ('92 MIM), an SX Jazz Bass copy, and a Danelectro Dano '63 long scale bass.

(And my 4003, of course.)

I like your Ripper, Chuck. I had one in sunburst for a long time and loved it madly. The Vari-tone could dial in some wicked sounds. 8)
