Only my mommy calls me ronald ! lol. Anyone here have a serial # block list of basses that became rose morris exports?
Does this even exist. How would one know if they had a rose morris 1999 or a 4001-s? I had asked Gallo but received no response. I figured he would have an idea or maybe the aussie boys! My '64 actually has the previous owner's Canadian social security number etched on the jackplate. Be neat to find him or her to ask questions , eh?

cheers.

Another great Rickenbacker player with a Canadian connection. Welcome back Ron.

Thanx pete for the back-pat ! Going to see my mom in Moncton after i attend an ww2 battle in Stow, Mass., weekend of oct. 9-11 for the Collings Foundation. My german re-enactment unit will be crewing the 88 anti aircraft gun for the event as we did last year. Then i can get my supply of wood stick q-tips and Olands export beer in cans! Great for "shotgunning" !

Ron: Here is a block of candidates from the Register that may be part of the list you are looking for.

Notice my '64 is 3 numbers above the one in japan as dk-581! But how does one know if it was a Romo export? Is there an export list available? According to Smith's book, mine could be one of 2 4001-s fireglo, or could have been one of one 4000 with extra rout, or one of 101 1999 basses no color specified. see my dilema? As mine was resurrected from mod hell I don't know the original configuration except that it was originally fireglo.

Hey Ron-

There have been some great threads on this forum discussing the RM 1999. We've had some very knowledgeable members that chimed in with some great information, including Vincent Gallo, Andy Winter, and a few of our Australian members as well.

This thread comes to mind:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=380896&st=0&sk=t&sd ... 99#p423861

Browse through it when you have some time!

If I remember correctly VG thinks that all dot necked two pickup basses from 1964 should be thought of as RM 1999's. And I think also read somewhere that all RM 1999's were in FG.

Here's where the thread begins to focus on the RM 1999:

I'll just add quickly here about the Turq RM 1999 recently added to the registry in my back yard old Kent. Anyone else notice?

DA 22...

Well... :o

If whoever added this bass is reading this please contact me via PM.

My eyes are burning from reading all 19 pages on that thread! btw...my cavity rout in the '64 says "4000-g" ????? Vincent says his romo's had 4001-s in them??? I still have the broken off headstock hanging above my workbench.

Hey, Wints...any luck on this data base thingy for the romo's?

Ron,

Hopefully for 2010. I need to go over all my old history, Gerry F has a list and I need Vincent's input also. Between the three of us, we'll hopefully get there, with a few pix as reference as well.

As I stated in the thread quoted, it's most probable that any DK serial bass is a RM 1999 export.

Hey Graham, I just thought, that's not you with that RM 1999 in Sidcup is it?

But, but...In 2010, we won't be here cause Hal said there's gonna be something wonderful happening on io! lol.

Ok...I'll patiently wait for that and Vince's book. Right Vince ? Look, I can only read Smith's book so many times! It gets a little mundane looking at that '63 4001 deluxe or the 4001-s with the two toasters.

That is one of my favorite Rick basses! I would love to get a 4004L like that. :D

With the new two piece '60s thin neck, of course! 8)
