I remember those; a guy I knew in Columbus was an Ohm dealer so he had lots of cool speakers!

Well I got my speakers hooked up, and they sound awesome. At this point, I'd like to go real old school, and find a vintage tube amp/receiver(Kenwood, Pioneer or similar), and like a Dual or Technics turntable. For now, it would meet my needs.

After a basement flood in August, it's taken me a while to get set up for vinyl again. The B&O RX has been pressed back into service - right now, just playing through a simple Sony bookshelf system. I don't have room for my Magnepan SMGa set in my office, so I'm looking for alternatives...

I'm sure you can find
some way to make them fit.

Takes a bit of moving around (on casters) to get them just right but they project a huge sound stage..omnidirectional with a single down facing speaker...my wife thinks they're ugly...sound exceptional though

These speakers would be an excellent choice for Marc, too.

Great tweeters. I'm looking for a deal on some vintage ones.. The first time I heard these was at the very first Laserium show at Griffith Park in Los Angeles. They had something like twenty of them forming a circle around the audience.

A little update. Picked up a Marantz receiver off of Ebay. 65 watts a side(model 2265 I think?), and a Kenwood model 2055 turntable on Craigslist.
Might get a CD player, and for sure will add satellite radio, but for now, very satisfied.

A true audiophile is
never satisfied.

..and doesn't get to listen to much music as a result...

True audiophiles don't really listen to
music, it's more like sound bites to make sure the stereo system is doing it's best at revealing things like it's ability in allowing the
Audiophile to "see" the singers vocal chords floating in the proper position within the soundstage, you know, that sort of thing. Heaven forbid they should actually sit and listen to a complete musical work.

Funny...most guys I know who are REALLY into sound systems are working too hard to pay for them to actually listen to them.
Really, the type you describe is only a fraction of the audiophile community.

As much as I would love to have an absolutely SOTA system, that will never happen, so I really do listen to
mine.
My description mostly applies to those who crave Stereophile and TAS.

We can spend time listening for lung placement on my system at MICRIO!
